Collection Consultancy

Looking to begin, grow, or bring focus to your collection? An initial consultation starts from $1,500 for a comprehensive wall-by-wall review of your home and a first round of artist suggestions. For a full service advisor-on-call, retainers start from $6,000 per year, and cover the full scope of your collecting life.

Services Include: 
Collection identity: together we will define what you want your collection to be, whether it be selecting works that complement your living space; curating with a central theme, period or point of view; or if you simply want to enjoy the pleasure of discovery, with an expert eye alongside you. 

Acquisition support: when we find the right work, I'll guide the process from negotiation to your wall. Pricing, logistics, framing, shipping, condition assessments: you will be supported throughout. Acquisitions support is charged separately, and fees are always agreed in advance. 

Market review: monthly updates on exhibitions, art fairs, auctions, and private offerings selected especially for you. 

Education & Experiences: discovery is one of the most enjoyable parts of collecting, and one I love sharing with clients. Whether that means sharing art tips for a trip abroad, recommending art books or podcasts, or joining you for a studio visit or a day spent touring galleries, museums and art fairs.

Artwork Sourcing

Over the years I’ve united collectors with works they had spent years searching for, found pieces from private collections that hadn’t been on the market in decades, and sourced works that simply weren’t findable through conventional channels. 

If you have a wishlist - a specific artist, a period, or a dream picture, I’d love to help. My international network of private collectors, advisors and private dealers means I am often able to find works that never reach the open market. 

Before we begin the search, we will agree on your budget, and the commission rate that will apply.

Fine Art Appraisals

I am an USPAP compliant appraiser of fine art & tangible personal property, and a candidate for Certified Membership to the Appraisers Society of America. Every appraisal I produce combines meticulous research, comprehensive market intelligence and years of experience across the US and UK art markets. Appraisals are billed at $250 per object.

Insurance Appraisals

Protect the artwork you love and the investment you have made. Insurance appraisals determine the retail replacement value of a work: how much it would cost you to replace it under current market conditions. Whether you’re insuring a new acquisition or reviewing existing coverage, I’ll ensure your appraisal is accurate and current, protecting you against being over or under insured. 

Fair Market Value Appraisals

Required for estate tax, gift tax, charitable donations and equitable distribution (including divorce and estate separation), I can prepare for you a fair market value appraisal which meets the standards required by the IRS and HMRC. 

Collection Appraisals

If you have a large group of works requiring comprehensive valuation, I can provide you a structured collection appraisal, outlining the value, composition and market positioning of your collection. Collection appraisals can be used for wealth reporting, estate planning and strategic collection management.

Artwork Sales

Selling art well demands expert support. Getting the best result, whether for a single work or a large and complex collection, requires genuine market knowledge, the right relationships, and the patience to wait for the right moment and the right buyer.

Over the years I've managed complex multi-category estate sales, navigated multi-auction house consignments, secured competitive financial terms, and placed works discreetly into private collections. I know when auction is the right route, when a private sale will serve you better, and when a gallery or dealer consignment is the answer.

Whether you're parting with one piece or many, you'll receive the same focus and the same honest counsel. 

Selling projects are billed by commission, which will always be agreed with you before any work begins.
